Megan kept watching the two of them with an amused smile, especially when she saw them whispering to each other, and couldnโt help teasing, โCome on, you two, this is a banquet hall. Maybe tone it down a little. Iโm still single, you know. Doesnโt it hurt your conscience to act like this in front of me?โ
She clutched her chest in mock pain, and Aurora couldnโt help laughing at the sight. โAlright, if you really want to date, I know plenty of great guys I can introduce you to.โ
Hearing that, Megan quickly waved her hands, her face carrying an awkward smile. โNo way. Iโm in the prime of my youth, why would I waste it on dating? Besides, you know meโI just talk big.โ
Aurora nodded in agreement. She understood her friend well. Megan was exactly that kind of personโshe might talk about things, but if it came to actually doing them, she would definitely back out.
The group was all laughter and cheer. But the sight of Aurora and Lucas whispering to each other didnโt escape the eyes of someone nearby. His face twisted with pain and struggle, his hand clenched tightly at his side. He forced himself not to think about it, but reality was cruel. He simply couldnโt help it.
At first, he thought ignoring it would be enough. But later, he realized he still couldnโt resist wanting to get close to them, to keep watching Auroraโs every move. So, when Grace sent over the invitation, he hesitated for a while but still agreed quickly.
And now, not long after arriving at the banquet, he was faced with the sight of the two of them leaning so close, looking even more in love than before. Leonard couldnโt help feeling puzzled. Heโd never seen them this affectionate in the past, so could this change really have happened because of the month Aurora spent in a coma?
In fact, after she woke up, he had wanted to visit her too. But then he thought, Lucas was by Auroraโs side, so why should he go and humiliate himself? Everyone should have their own life.
Yet the less he tried to be involved, the more he wanted to know everything about Aurora. It was like an ant crawling inside him, gnawing away, making him desperate to find out. Over time, he felt like he was going insane. It sounded ridiculous to say it out loud, but it was exactly what he was going through.
Now that he had come to the banquet, it was only to see how Aurora was doing. Seeing her so happy now, he felt relieved.
With that thought, Leonard turned to leave the hall, but Megan quickly spotted him. She raised her hand and called out, โLeonard, why are you just standing there? Why donโt you come over?โ
Hearing this, Leonardโs steps froze on the spot. A trace of embarrassment flashed across his face, but he quickly composed himself. He took a deep breath, reminding himself that sometimes less trouble was better. Since Megan had called him over, there must be a reason. And maybe with this chance, he could also find out how Aurora had been doing lately. That in itself was not a bad opportunity.
