Lost in thought, Andrew did not look discouraged, nor did he see the fight as a failure. He calmly cleaned himself up and crossed the street to the food stall across from Nightfall Bar.
Sitting down, he began to eat quietly.
Olivia stared at him with concern. โSir, your clothes are soaked throughโฆ And youโre bleeding.โ
Andrew gave a faint smile. โItโs nothing. I slipped earlier, thatโs all.โ
He quickly finished his meal, left a few bills on the table, and waved off the change before disappearing into the night.
Gianna and Manuel, the stall owners, came out trembling.
โYou think that guyโs in the mafia or something?โ Gianna muttered.
โI donโt knowโฆ But he didnโt look like someone who had just fallen. He looked like heโd just been in a fight. There was blood all over himโฆ It was terrifying,โ Manuel said, frowning.
He sighed. โWe thought weโd found a rich, generous customer, but it turns out heโs probably some kind of gangster. Weโd better be careful from now on.โ
Olivia suddenly shouted, โNo! Heโs not a bad guy! Even if heโs hurt, I can tell that heโs not bad.โ
Gianna and Manuel stared at her, dumbfounded. Had their daughter really just taken his side?
โWhatโs gotten into her?โ Manuel whispered.
Olivia murmured, almost to herself, โHeโs been coming here all this time to watch over the bar across the street. After tonight, I donโt think heโll come back anymore.โ
The next morning, Luna arrived early at Sovereignโs Apothecary. โWhat? Andrewโs gone?โ
Her brows knit together, and worry crept into her voice.
Mikayla smirked. โThatโs right. Heโs been kicked out. From now on, thereโs no place for him in the Sovereignโs Apothecary.โ
Luna shook her head. โNo one couldโve forced him out. Iโll go talk to Madam Baxter myself.โ
Mikayla called after her. โGeneral Phelan, thereโs no need to ask Madam Baxter. Sheโs not in charge right now anyway. The one overseeing Sovereignโs Apothecary now is Mr. Titus Sterling from the Divine Alchemists.โ
Lunaโs voice turned cold. โI donโt care about that. Iโm only asking, whereโs Andrew?โ
Mikayla shrugged. โWho knows? But honestly, you donโt need to worry about him anymore. You should follow my mentor, Mr. Theon Orben, and study alchemy under his guidance. Right now, heโs the number one alchemist here.โ
Luna went silent for a moment, then turned without a word and walked away.
Mikayla frowned and followed her. โGeneral Phelan, whatโs that supposed to mean?โ
Luna did not even look back. โIf Andrewโs gone, then thereโs no reason for me to stay. I wonโt be coming back here again.โ
Mikaylaโs eyes widened. โHey!โ
She was furious, gritting her teeth. She thought Luna must be out of her mind.
Andrewโs leaving was one thing, but why was Luna following him out? Sovereignโs Apothecary was massive, and surely she could find another mentor worth learning from.
Later that morning, in his private courtyard, Theon sat back in a chair, smiling confidently. โSo, General Phelan came by earlier, didnโt she?โ
Caden quickly nodded. โYes, Mr. Orben, she arrived this morning.โ
Theon looked pleased. โGood. Then bring her to me. Right now, Iโm the only one here qualified to train her. Iโll make sure she becomes my apprentice.โ
Cadenโs expression turned awkward, and before he could speak, Mikayla stepped forward with a grin. โMr. Orben, General Phelan didnโt know what was good for her. Sheโs already left.โ
Theonโs face immediately darkened. โLeft? What do you mean, left? She just got hereโฆ Why didnโt anyone bring her to me?โ
