Listen to this chapter:

Lost in thought, Andrew did not look discouraged, nor did he see the fight as a failure. He calmly cleaned himself up and crossed the street to the food stall across from Nightfall Bar.

Sitting down, he began to eat quietly.

Olivia stared at him with concern. โ€œSir, your clothes are soaked throughโ€ฆ And youโ€™re bleeding.โ€

Andrew gave a faint smile. โ€œItโ€™s nothing. I slipped earlier, thatโ€™s all.โ€

He quickly finished his meal, left a few bills on the table, and waved off the change before disappearing into the night.

Gianna and Manuel, the stall owners, came out trembling.

โ€œYou think that guyโ€™s in the mafia or something?โ€ Gianna muttered.

โ€œI donโ€™t knowโ€ฆ But he didnโ€™t look like someone who had just fallen. He looked like heโ€™d just been in a fight. There was blood all over himโ€ฆ It was terrifying,โ€ Manuel said, frowning.

He sighed. โ€œWe thought weโ€™d found a rich, generous customer, but it turns out heโ€™s probably some kind of gangster. Weโ€™d better be careful from now on.โ€

Olivia suddenly shouted, โ€œNo! Heโ€™s not a bad guy! Even if heโ€™s hurt, I can tell that heโ€™s not bad.โ€

Gianna and Manuel stared at her, dumbfounded. Had their daughter really just taken his side?

โ€œWhatโ€™s gotten into her?โ€ Manuel whispered.

Olivia murmured, almost to herself, โ€œHeโ€™s been coming here all this time to watch over the bar across the street. After tonight, I donโ€™t think heโ€™ll come back anymore.โ€

The next morning, Luna arrived early at Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary. โ€œWhat? Andrewโ€™s gone?โ€

Her brows knit together, and worry crept into her voice.

Mikayla smirked. โ€œThatโ€™s right. Heโ€™s been kicked out. From now on, thereโ€™s no place for him in the Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary.โ€

Luna shook her head. โ€œNo one couldโ€™ve forced him out. Iโ€™ll go talk to Madam Baxter myself.โ€

Mikayla called after her. โ€œGeneral Phelan, thereโ€™s no need to ask Madam Baxter. Sheโ€™s not in charge right now anyway. The one overseeing Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary now is Mr. Titus Sterling from the Divine Alchemists.โ€

Lunaโ€™s voice turned cold. โ€œI donโ€™t care about that. Iโ€™m only asking, whereโ€™s Andrew?โ€

Mikayla shrugged. โ€œWho knows? But honestly, you donโ€™t need to worry about him anymore. You should follow my mentor, Mr. Theon Orben, and study alchemy under his guidance. Right now, heโ€™s the number one alchemist here.โ€

Luna went silent for a moment, then turned without a word and walked away.

Mikayla frowned and followed her. โ€œGeneral Phelan, whatโ€™s that supposed to mean?โ€

Luna did not even look back. โ€œIf Andrewโ€™s gone, then thereโ€™s no reason for me to stay. I wonโ€™t be coming back here again.โ€

Mikaylaโ€™s eyes widened. โ€œHey!โ€

She was furious, gritting her teeth. She thought Luna must be out of her mind.

Andrewโ€™s leaving was one thing, but why was Luna following him out? Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary was massive, and surely she could find another mentor worth learning from.

Later that morning, in his private courtyard, Theon sat back in a chair, smiling confidently. โ€œSo, General Phelan came by earlier, didnโ€™t she?โ€

Caden quickly nodded. โ€œYes, Mr. Orben, she arrived this morning.โ€

Theon looked pleased. โ€œGood. Then bring her to me. Right now, Iโ€™m the only one here qualified to train her. Iโ€™ll make sure she becomes my apprentice.โ€

Cadenโ€™s expression turned awkward, and before he could speak, Mikayla stepped forward with a grin. โ€œMr. Orben, General Phelan didnโ€™t know what was good for her. Sheโ€™s already left.โ€

Theonโ€™s face immediately darkened. โ€œLeft? What do you mean, left? She just got hereโ€ฆ Why didnโ€™t anyone bring her to me?โ€
