Listen to this chapter:

Brielleโ€™s voice dripped with disgust. โ€œGet lost, Theon. From this day forward, weโ€™re done with each other. Donโ€™t think I donโ€™t know that all of this was orchestrated by your scheming and underhanded tactics. You think that by pushing Andrew out, youโ€™ll have complete control of Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary? Donโ€™t even dream of it.โ€

Theonโ€™s face twisted with shock and anger, clearly not expecting Brielle to turn on him so openly. โ€œMadam Baxter, what do you mean by that? Iโ€™ve always treated you with the utmost respect. I never imagined youโ€™d turn against me over Andrew. Is he really worth betting everything on?โ€

Brielle let out a scornful laugh. โ€œHeโ€™s a ninth-grade supreme alchemist, which makes him at least as capable as you, if not more so. Iโ€™m not an idiot. When it comes to choosing between befriending him or aligning with a backstabbing snake like you, do you really think Iโ€™m blind enough not to see the obvious choice?โ€

Theonโ€™s fury reached its peak. โ€œMadam Baxterโ€ฆโ€

Before he could continue, Titusโ€™s voice cut through the tension. โ€œEnough! Stop this bickering right now. Since Iโ€™ve arrived at Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary, everything here will be done according to my decisions. Youโ€™ve been managing this place for quite some years now, Brielle, and in the coming period, you should take some time to rest.โ€

Brielleโ€™s lips curled into a cold smile. โ€œRest? You mean you want to sideline me and strip away my authority? Fine, do whatever you want. I couldnโ€™t care less.โ€

Without another word, she turned and walked out.

Andrew called out immediately. โ€œAmari, weโ€™re leaving too.โ€

Amari burst into laughter. โ€œSounds good to me! If weโ€™re going, letโ€™s all go together. This place has been a toxic mess anyway, and Iโ€™ve had enough of it.โ€

Titus frowned. โ€œMr. Goodman, we have no issue with you personally. In fact, Mr. Bowen specifically mentioned that if youโ€™re interested, we could arrange for you to study at our main headquarters for a few years.โ€

Amari scoffed dismissively. โ€œNo thanks. Andrew is already a ninth-grade supreme alchemist, so if I want to learn anything, he can teach me. What do the Divine Alchemists have thatโ€™s so special? What do you have that surpasses him?โ€

Titusโ€™ expression darkened considerably, his voice turning icy. โ€œIf thatโ€™s the case, then Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary is too small to accommodate someone of your stature, Mr. Goodman. Please, donโ€™t let us keep you.โ€

As they were leaving, Mikayla hurried after them. โ€œAndrew, wait a moment!โ€

Andrew stopped and turned around. โ€œWhat is it?โ€

Mikayla smiled as she approached. โ€œIf youโ€™d known this would happen, would you have made the same choices? Have you even thought about what youโ€™ll do after leaving Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary?โ€

Andrew looked at her like she had lost her mind. โ€œAre you serious? Iโ€™m a ninth-grade supreme alchemist. You think Iโ€™ll have nowhere to go? Thereโ€™s the Reyes Grand Auction House, or maybe I can join a department directly under military command. Heck, I could just start my own practice. Piece of cake.โ€

He smirked and added, โ€œOr I could simply stay home and relax. Whatโ€™s wrong with that?โ€

His barrage of words left Mikayla speechless.

Her face twisted with frustration as she finally snapped, โ€œI get it, you donโ€™t care. But I have a proposal. The Owens family has a group of alchemists, though theyโ€™re not very advanced. If you join us and lead our alchemy department, my dad will honor you as the familyโ€™s top advisor. Andโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll make things right between us again.โ€

She stood there beaming at Andrew, as if her offer was some incredible gift he would be foolish to refuse.
