Listen to this chapter:

Luna chuckled softly. โ€œLetโ€™s not get ahead of ourselves. After the eighth-grade comes the ninth-grade supreme alchemist. From what I know, there are only a handful in the entire country whoโ€™ve reached that level. Most of them belong to ancient sects, not modern academies. Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary is based in Chetvine City, so they donโ€™t have one. But the organization behind them, the Divine Alchemists, does have a few ninth-grade masters.โ€

Leslie nodded and asked, โ€œGeneral, weโ€™ve been walking around all morning. Have you decided which alchemy master you want to learn from?โ€

Luna shook her head. โ€œI wonโ€™t be taking a mentor. Iโ€™ll just seek some guidance.โ€

Leslie smiled. โ€œMakes sense. With your status, General, even though these experts at Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary are incredibly skilled, none of them are really qualified to take you as a disciple. But still, even if youโ€™re only picking someone to learn from, youโ€™ll need to decide soon. If Madam Baxter returns and finds out weโ€™ve been hesitating, she might think youโ€™re being arrogant.โ€

Luna nodded in agreement. โ€œYouโ€™re right about that. Madam Baxter is someone whom even General Turman treats with respect. Since weโ€™re asking for her help, we canโ€™t afford to seem ungrateful or too particular.โ€

Her beautiful, flawless face showed genuine uncertainty for once. โ€œIโ€™m trying to decide between studying under Mr. Goodman or Mr. Orben. Within Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary, Mr. Goodman has a reputation as a genuinely good person. Heโ€™s kind-hearted, not driven by ambition, and exceptionally skilled in his craft. Mr. Orben, on the other hand, is quite calculating and ambitious. Iโ€™ve heard heโ€™s even been making moves to challenge Madam Baxterโ€™s authority. While his alchemy skills are equally impressive, Iโ€™ve never been comfortable working closely with people who are overly manipulative and self-serving.โ€

Leslie grinned. โ€œWell, that settles it then. Letโ€™s just go meet with Mr. Goodman directly and work something out with him.โ€

Luna smiled in return. โ€œGood idea.โ€

Meanwhile, Caden hurried over to find Theon, who was meditating in his courtyard.

โ€œWhat is it?โ€ Theon asked, opening his eyes with a hint of annoyance.

Caden spoke carefully, โ€œMr. Orben, Major General Luna Phelans has come to Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary to study alchemy. I recommended you as her mentor.โ€

Theonโ€™s expression instantly brightened. โ€œExcellent. Very good. All that effort Iโ€™ve put into training you finally paid off. Luna is Philipโ€™s prized student. If I can get her to take me as her mentor, itโ€™ll be a huge boost for my standing here.โ€

He rose to his feet at once. โ€œCall the other apprentices, and bring Mikayla too. Letโ€™s make this grand. Weโ€™ll personally invite General Phelan to join our ranks.โ€

Caden nodded eagerly. โ€œYes, sir. Iโ€™ll get everyone right away.โ€

He rushed off and soon found Mikayla in the alchemy chamber, practicing her craft. After explaining the situation, she looked genuinely surprised. โ€œLunaโ€™s here to study alchemy? I didnโ€™t expect her to have an interest in that. I wonder how talented she actually is.โ€

Caden grinned. โ€œCome on, Mikayla, Lunaโ€™s a rare beauty and a genius in martial artsโ€ฆ Everyone in Chetvine knows that. Even Valerie Reyes is often compared to her. With such high talent in combat, I doubt her potential in alchemy will be bad.โ€

Mikayla frowned, unimpressed. โ€œThat doesnโ€™t necessarily mean anything. Martial arts and alchemy are two completely different worlds.โ€
