Luna chuckled softly. โLetโs not get ahead of ourselves. After the eighth-grade comes the ninth-grade supreme alchemist. From what I know, there are only a handful in the entire country whoโve reached that level. Most of them belong to ancient sects, not modern academies. Sovereignโs Apothecary is based in Chetvine City, so they donโt have one. But the organization behind them, the Divine Alchemists, does have a few ninth-grade masters.โ
Leslie nodded and asked, โGeneral, weโve been walking around all morning. Have you decided which alchemy master you want to learn from?โ
Luna shook her head. โI wonโt be taking a mentor. Iโll just seek some guidance.โ
Leslie smiled. โMakes sense. With your status, General, even though these experts at Sovereignโs Apothecary are incredibly skilled, none of them are really qualified to take you as a disciple. But still, even if youโre only picking someone to learn from, youโll need to decide soon. If Madam Baxter returns and finds out weโve been hesitating, she might think youโre being arrogant.โ
Luna nodded in agreement. โYouโre right about that. Madam Baxter is someone whom even General Turman treats with respect. Since weโre asking for her help, we canโt afford to seem ungrateful or too particular.โ
Her beautiful, flawless face showed genuine uncertainty for once. โIโm trying to decide between studying under Mr. Goodman or Mr. Orben. Within Sovereignโs Apothecary, Mr. Goodman has a reputation as a genuinely good person. Heโs kind-hearted, not driven by ambition, and exceptionally skilled in his craft. Mr. Orben, on the other hand, is quite calculating and ambitious. Iโve heard heโs even been making moves to challenge Madam Baxterโs authority. While his alchemy skills are equally impressive, Iโve never been comfortable working closely with people who are overly manipulative and self-serving.โ
Leslie grinned. โWell, that settles it then. Letโs just go meet with Mr. Goodman directly and work something out with him.โ
Luna smiled in return. โGood idea.โ
Meanwhile, Caden hurried over to find Theon, who was meditating in his courtyard.
โWhat is it?โ Theon asked, opening his eyes with a hint of annoyance.
Caden spoke carefully, โMr. Orben, Major General Luna Phelans has come to Sovereignโs Apothecary to study alchemy. I recommended you as her mentor.โ
Theonโs expression instantly brightened. โExcellent. Very good. All that effort Iโve put into training you finally paid off. Luna is Philipโs prized student. If I can get her to take me as her mentor, itโll be a huge boost for my standing here.โ
He rose to his feet at once. โCall the other apprentices, and bring Mikayla too. Letโs make this grand. Weโll personally invite General Phelan to join our ranks.โ
Caden nodded eagerly. โYes, sir. Iโll get everyone right away.โ
He rushed off and soon found Mikayla in the alchemy chamber, practicing her craft. After explaining the situation, she looked genuinely surprised. โLunaโs here to study alchemy? I didnโt expect her to have an interest in that. I wonder how talented she actually is.โ
Caden grinned. โCome on, Mikayla, Lunaโs a rare beauty and a genius in martial artsโฆ Everyone in Chetvine knows that. Even Valerie Reyes is often compared to her. With such high talent in combat, I doubt her potential in alchemy will be bad.โ
Mikayla frowned, unimpressed. โThat doesnโt necessarily mean anything. Martial arts and alchemy are two completely different worlds.โ
