Chapter 2392

The night passed quietly.

The next morning, Andrew headed straight to Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary.

Amari greeted him with a grin. โ€œAndrew, this is a surprise. What brings you here so early?โ€

Andrew waved him over. โ€œCome on, letโ€™s talk in your courtyard.โ€

Amariโ€™s eyes lit up, and he chuckled mischievously. โ€œDid you bring me some wine? I know itโ€™s work hours, but Madam Baxterโ€™s not around. No oneโ€™s going to stop me from having a little drink.โ€

Andrew shot him a glare. โ€œThatโ€™s all you ever think about! Itโ€™s early morning, and instead of working, you just want to booze. Come on, Iโ€™m here because we need to discuss something important.โ€

Amariโ€™s face fell with disappointment. โ€œFine. Letโ€™s talk business first.โ€

Soon, the two men settled into comfortable chairs in the courtyard.

Amari poured Andrew a cup of tea and asked, โ€œSo whatโ€™s on your mind?โ€

Andrew paused thoughtfully before speaking. โ€œAmari, Iโ€™ve been thinking about arranging a marriage for you. Since Iโ€™m here in Chetvine and Mr. Zeroual is not here, I figured I should look after your future. Youโ€™re my junior, after all.โ€

Amariโ€™s neck tensed as he immediately shook his head. โ€œAbsolutely not! Letโ€™s forget about this. Iโ€™m doing just fine on my own these days. Besides, at my age, what kind of marriage are we even talking about? Am I supposed to find an old lady my age? Let me be clear! Iโ€™m not interested. Iโ€™ve been a bachelor all my life, and thatโ€™s how itโ€™ll stay!โ€

Andrew looked genuinely surprised. โ€œYouโ€™re still a virgin? Are you serious?โ€

Amariโ€™s face flushed red with embarrassment and anger. โ€œYes, completely serious. I was abandoned on the side of the road when I was born. Some farmers found me and raised me randomly until I was about five years old, then they passed away.

โ€œI spent the next seven years working odd jobs at a small sect just to survive and eat. Then I met Mr. Zeroual, and he saw something in me. He thought I was clever, so he took me on as his assistant in herbal medicine. I didnโ€™t even get officially recognized as his official apprentice until I was 55 years old.โ€

He continued, โ€œUnlike you, who came from a prestigious family in Chetvine, your handsome father brought you to meet Mr. Zeroual as a child. He didnโ€™t even put on his shoes; he just said heโ€™d rather die without a piece of him intact than pass up the chance to take you as his student. Do you see the difference between us? How could our paths be so different?โ€

Andrew smiled gently and waved his hand dismissively. โ€œAlright, alright, stop with all the emotional talk. Letโ€™s focus on what matters. Iโ€™ve found someone for you, and sheโ€™s actually quite suitable. I wanted to come see what you think about it today.โ€

Amari looked skeptical. โ€œFine, who is she? But if sheโ€™s a widow, divorced, or a loudmouth, Iโ€™m not interested.โ€

Andrew sighed. โ€œCome on, you know me. Iโ€™m Andrew Lloyd. Would I ever set you up with someone like that?โ€

Amari finally smiled, his tone lighter. โ€œAlright then, tell me. Which family is she from?โ€

Andrew crossed his arms proudly. โ€œSheโ€™s from the Reyes family. What do you think?โ€

Amari frowned. โ€œThe Reyes family? That clanโ€™s reputation isnโ€™t exactly spotless. Their backing, the Umbral Peak Sect, is known for walking a darker path. Iโ€™m not a fan of that crowd.โ€

Andrew waved dismissively. โ€œForget all that. What matters is whether this woman suits you or not.โ€

Amari nodded slowly. โ€œAlright, then tell me about her.โ€

Andrew leaned in. โ€œHer nameโ€™s Valerie. Sheโ€™s about my age, maybe a little younger or older, hardly anyโ€ฆโ€
