Inside Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary, Andrew had already finished what he was working on. Once Brielle got her hands on the Soulโ€“Restoring Pill, she treasured it and immediately placed it in the vault.

With nothing else to do, Andrew figured it was time to leave. He could finally spare some time to head over to Chetvine Grand Auction House and investigate.

Amari grinned shamelessly. โ€œAndrew, do you have time for a little chat?โ€

Andrew smiled. โ€œYou want to ask me how I became a ninthโ€“grade supreme alchemist, right?โ€

Amari looked a bit embarrassed, chuckling awkwardly. โ€œWellโ€ฆ something like that. Come on, you wonโ€™t be stingy with your experience, will you?โ€

Andrew smiled warmly. โ€œWhatโ€™s there to hide? Whatever you want to know, Iโ€™ll tell you. Weโ€™re fellow disciples, and I wouldnโ€™t hold anything back.โ€

Amari beamed with joy and nodded repeatedly. โ€œEver since Mr. Maverick Zeroual disappeared, honestly, Iโ€™ve been pretty uneasy about it. Now that youโ€™re back in Chetvine and weโ€™ve reunited, besides handling our current business, we should also keep an eye out for news about Mr. Zeroual.โ€

Andrew nodded solemnly at this. โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Mr. Zeroual is incredibly capable, and ordinary people canโ€™t touch him. Besides, you know heโ€™s not interested in worldly affairs. He loves exploring famous mountains and rivers, going on adventures. For all we know, he might be in some hidden paradise right now.โ€

Amari said, โ€œI hope so. The martial arts world in Holtrien is pretty chaotic these days. Down south, I heard Mr. Thornton was chased out and forced to step down from the Southern Martial Union. And the northern martial arts scene here in Chetvine is even more chaotic.

โ€œNot only are there heavy grudges between the martial arts factions, but the major local families, wealthy clans, and even the powerful houses in Chetvine are all meddling, stirring things up behind the scenes.โ€

Andrew remained calm. โ€œDonโ€™t worry about all that. Just focus on your alchemy at Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary. By the way, Amari, I remember Mr. Zeroual mentioned you had a marriage arrangement in Chetvine, right?โ€

Amariโ€™s face flushed red as he snapped, โ€œMarriage? What marriage? Andrew, stop teasing me. Iโ€™m old enough to be a greatโ€“grandfather. What marriage are you talking about? People would laugh at me.โ€

Andrewโ€™s expression was serious. โ€œI wonโ€™t pry into your business. Itโ€™s your life, and I wonโ€™t interfere. But with Mr. Zeroual gone, Iโ€™ll have to look out for you as your senior. If youโ€™re ever struggling, you can tell me. Iโ€™ll help however I can. Youโ€™ve spent your life alone. If love found you in your later years, Iโ€™d honestly be happy for you.โ€

Amari actually looked shy for a moment before stomping his foot. โ€œEnough! You donโ€™t even have a partner yourself, yet youโ€™re worrying about me? Iโ€™m an old man! Whether I have someone or not doesnโ€™t matter. But you, youโ€™re not even 30 yet, young and talented with a bright future. If I had your looks and charm, Iโ€™d have women on each arm living the good life.โ€

Andrew smirked, a trace of roguishness slipping out. โ€œAnd how do you know I donโ€™t already? To be honest, Iโ€™ve already found a few ladies myself. When they come to Chetvine, Iโ€™ll bring them to meet you.โ€

Amari was stunned. โ€œSeveral? In these ten years you spent wandering, you were still that impressive, huh?โ€

Andrew laughed heartily and patted his shoulder. โ€œNot that impressive at allโ€ฆ Just average, really.โ€

Amariโ€™s expression was complicated as he ground his teeth. โ€œDamn it, so you really were out there finding partners behind my back? What happened to growing old and lonely together? Andrew, youโ€™re a traitor. Youโ€™re not playing fair.โ€

Even though he knew Amari was joking, Andrew could still sense some regret and envy mixed into his joke. The reason behind it probably had to do with Amariโ€™s marriage arrangement here in Chetvine.

However, Andrew actually didnโ€™t know much about Amariโ€™s private affairs. So it was not convenient to ask more right now. He could only wait and see if Amari brought it up himself later.

โ€œAlright then, Iโ€™m heading home.โ€

With that, Andrew prepared to leave Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary.

โ€œHold it!โ€ A voice, old but still sharp and commanding, rang out behind him.

Andrew turned his head, and his lips curled into a smile. โ€œOld bastard Theon, long time no see.โ€

It was none other than Theon. โ€œDid you refine a ninthโ€“grade Soulโ€“Restoring Pill just now?โ€

Andrew shrugged. โ€œWhether I did or not, why donโ€™t you go ask Madam Baxter yourself?โ€

Theon snorted. โ€œAndrew, you shouldnโ€™t have come back here. Thereโ€™s no place for you in Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary anymore.โ€

Andrew remained as calm as ever. โ€œI know you donโ€™t want me back. Youโ€™re afraid Iโ€™ll compete with you for the chief alchemist position. But Theon, you underestimate me. I only returned because I needed something from Sovereignโ€™s Apothecary. As for that chief alchemist title or any of that nonsense, Iโ€™m not interested.โ€
