Chapter 573 Ask for Her Help

Dane could actually talk again!

Right then, Liam strolled in. โ€œSo? Shocked enough?โ€

Tilda covered her mouth, nodding nonstop. โ€œThis is crazy! Liam, you liar! You told me there was only a little progressโ€”this is a straight-up miracle!โ€

โ€œHey, donโ€™t blame me. Dane was the one who wanted to keep it quiet. He wanted to surprise you, and he thought heโ€™d be even better the next time you saw him. And since the news about the lithography machine came out today, it brought you all the way here.โ€

โ€œThank you, Liamโ€ฆโ€ Daneโ€™s eyes showed nothing but gratitude. If Liam hadnโ€™t stepped in, he wouldโ€™ve given up long ago. Heโ€™d been close to breaking.

โ€œNot at all. Weโ€™re like brothers. Iโ€™ll do everything I can to help you recover. But honestly, itโ€™s your grit that made this work. The treatment was endless and brutal, and you never once complained. You just kept going. Thatโ€™s what a real doctor-patient team looks like.โ€

โ€œExactly! One is a genius scientist, and the other is the legendary Mad Doctor. Both tall, handsome, and totally awesome. And lucky meโ€”I get to call you both my seniors. Wow, I just wanna parade you two around and show off!โ€ Tilda winked, grinning from ear to ear. She hadnโ€™t felt this happy in ages.

Was that what people meant by double blessings? It felt amazing. A brand-new lithography machine was born, and Dane could talk again.

โ€œOh yeah, Dane, you still havenโ€™t told Tilda what you needed from her. Go on. Say it now.โ€

Tilda raised a brow. โ€œHmm? Do you actually need my help? I thought this was just about surprising me.โ€

โ€œTildaโ€ฆ Mr. Parker saidโ€ฆ since Iโ€™m the lead on the lithography machine projectโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll get a medal like everyone elseโ€ฆ but I also have to give a speech. Itโ€™ll be broadcastโ€ฆ live worldwideโ€ฆ but my voice isnโ€™t strong enough yet. Soโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll write the speechโ€ฆ and I was hopingโ€ฆ youโ€™d read it for meโ€ฆ up on stage?โ€

โ€œMe?!โ€ Tildaโ€™s eyes nearly popped out. โ€œDane, are you serious? Wouldnโ€™t Mystro or Liam be way better at this?โ€

โ€œNo way. Iโ€™m not standing in front of the whole world and talking. Not happening. Iโ€™d rather stay in the shadows. And I already talked to Mystro. He agrees this is the best plan. The three of us are all on the same page, so you canโ€™t say no.โ€

Tilda bit her lip. โ€œButโ€ฆโ€

โ€œIโ€ฆ asked Mystroโ€ฆ and Liam. They both saidโ€ฆ they donโ€™t wantโ€ฆ their names on the project. They donโ€™t wantโ€ฆ the spotlight. Tildaโ€ฆ what do you think? I truly want youโ€ฆ to do this for me. Youโ€™re theโ€ฆ only one I trust with itโ€ฆโ€

Even Dane, who usually didnโ€™t care about recognition, treated this speech as one of the biggest moments of his life. He had poured his heart and years of effort into that project. Even Manfred, whoโ€™d been with him the whole time, didnโ€™t fully know how much Dane had given up.

Heโ€™d risked it all. Even if it had failed, he couldโ€™ve held his head high. But theyโ€™d succeeded. And nobody felt that joy more deeply than Dane.

He wasnโ€™t the type to show emotions. But for him to ask for this favor with that look, how could Tilda possibly turn him down?

After a pause, she said, โ€œAlright, Dane. If this is what you want, Iโ€™ll do it. But donโ€™t put my name on the research. This belongs to your team. I donโ€™t need the attention.โ€

She knew being too high-profile only brought trouble. In fact, Mystro and Liam had made the smart choice. They already had enough titles, wealth, and influenceโ€”why pile on more? The same went for her.

If her name got attached as part of the very first lithography machine team in Cetherland, sheโ€™d probably shock the whole world. Sheโ€™d never live in peace again.

Besides, Tilda and the others hadnโ€™t done much. The real workโ€”the plans, the methods, the years of trial and errorโ€”came from Daneโ€™s team. They were learning from and building upon the experiences of those who had gone before them.

All three of them did was help things along at the right time. In short, theyโ€™d just been lucky.
