Listen to this chapter:

He felt that he needed to get a DNA test when the opportunity arose.

โ€œArenโ€™t you embarrassed already? Get out of there now. Iโ€™m waiting for you in the parking lot!โ€ After yelling, David immediately hung up the phone.

After Natalie was yelled at, a chill ran through her entire body, making her freeze.

After being with David for so long, he had always been gentle and kind to her, never even saying a harsh word, let alone scolding her.

She thought, โ€˜What happened this time? Could it beโ€ฆโ€™

Natalie rushed out of the room and saw the waiter cleaning the private room next door. Josie and the others were nowhere to be found.

She thought, โ€˜When did they leave? Why didnโ€™t I hear anything?โ€™

โ€œIt must be because the private roomโ€™s soundproofing is too good!โ€

Natalie was so angry she yelled, causing the waiters to look over in confusion. Feeling embarrassed, she turned around and quickly ran away.

As she went downstairs, she thought to herself, โ€˜Thank goodness Josie and her group have left. If I ran into them again, how could I possibly face them?โ€™

Since she hadnโ€™t heard any noise from the private room next door, that meant Josie couldnโ€™t have heard the commotion from her side either.

With this thought, Natalie regained some confidence.

She thought, โ€˜Anyway, Josie didnโ€™t know if anyone had come to celebrate with me. If I insisted that people had come, then she could not do anything about it.โ€™

Natalie straightened her back and walked out of the restaurant with a haughty expression.

When she arrived at the parking lot, she saw David sitting in his car, smoking.

Seeing her, Davidโ€™s eyes were cold and sharp. โ€œGet in the car. I have something to ask you!โ€

Natalie had never seen David like this before. He was usually gentle. However, at that moment, he radiated a hint of thuggishness.

Natalie thought, โ€˜Am I mistaken? How could Professor Lawson look like a thug?โ€™

Natalie nervously got into the car. โ€œProfessor, what exactly is going on? Why didnโ€™t anyone show up today? Is someone deliberately targeting us?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t drag me into this. Theyโ€™re targeting you!โ€ David looked at Natalieโ€™s innocent face and suddenly felt sick to his stomach. He asked, โ€œAnswer me honestly. Who gave you those papers, and after you got them, did you verify them with your own experiments?โ€

โ€œWhat do you mean, who gave them to me? I wrote those papers.โ€ Natalie panicked, even though she knew David was well aware the papers werenโ€™t hers. But since he hadnโ€™t asked anything, she thought that he was fine with that. Natalie wondered why he was asking her now.

She thought, โ€˜Could it be that this matter has been exposed, and David knows? Did others know as well, so they didnโ€™t come to my celebration party?โ€™

Natalie secretly analyzed in her mind, โ€˜Could it be Gavin? Did Gavin complain to David because I have been pressing him too hard recently?โ€™

David said, โ€œAt this point, stop lying. We both know very well that you canโ€™t write a series of papers with such a complete logical chain.

โ€œI intended to promote you, so I didnโ€™t mind that you didnโ€™t write those papers. But I repeatedly asked you if you had truly conducted the experiments. What did you tell me? Natalie, youโ€™ve truly disappointed me!โ€

A hint of coldness flashed in Davidโ€™s eyes as he threw his phone at her.

He said, โ€œSee for yourself. This is the real paper data after the experiments. This is only the first paper, and it already makes everyone keep their distance from you. What will happen if the complete experimental papers come out?โ€

Davidโ€™s voice was a little heavy. โ€œHave you ever thought about it?

โ€œFor your motherโ€™s sake, I was willing to use my influence to elevate you. But what did you give me in return?

โ€œItโ€™s clear now that youโ€™re not a promising talent at all. Youโ€™re not only lazy but also stupid. If I continue to help you, my reputation will be ruined.

โ€œIโ€™ll take you back now. Let your mother sort out the rest. Iโ€™ve already done everything I can. Before Ianโ€™s followโ€“up paper is released, I will completely disassociate myself from this matter.

โ€œYouโ€™d better settle down. If you do anything foolish again that implicates me, do not blame me for disregarding our bond!โ€
