Chapter 1440
Aurora stared at the blank screen after the call ended, her brows narrowing slightly.
Something still didnโt feel right. Leonard was in the hospital, so why did Megan sound so flustered? Since when did she get anxious so easily?
Megan had always been carefree, even a little sloppy at times, but she was never the type to meddle in other peopleโs business.
That much Aurora was sure of, which was exactly why this felt off. Their relationship had always been casual at best, yet now Megan seemed unusually involved.
Still uneasy, Aurora decided to call Meganโs parents.
To her surprise, they already knew that Megan was at the hospital taking care of Leonard.
Hearing that, Auroraโs suspicion eased. โAlright then, I wonโt bother you any further.โ
Eleanorโs warm voice came through the line. โAurora, donโt mind that girl, sheโs always been a bit scatterbrained. If she forgot to tell you she was taking the day off, please donโt hold it against her.โ
Aurora felt a bit embarrassed hearing that. Honestly, Megan hadnโt done anything particularly wrong. In fact, compared to before, sheโd grown quite a bit. Eleanor was just worrying too much.
โMrs. Quinn, donโt worry,โ Aurora said sincerely. โMeganโs been doing really well lately. I only called because I wasnโt sure if you knew about Leonardโs accident.โ
โOh, yes, both her father and I know,โ Eleanor replied quickly. โI thought you were calling because she skipped work today. That had me worried for a moment.โ
Aurora let out a soft breath. โNo, nothing like that. As long as youโre aware of whatโs going on with her and Leonard, then everythingโs fine. Iโm sure Megan knows what sheโs doing.โ
โThatโs good to hear,โ Eleanor said in relief. โIf anything comes up, please let us know right away.โ
โI will,โ Aurora assured her gently.
โYou donโt have to worry about her. Sheโs really matured since joining the studio, and I trust her completely. I just didnโt know about Leonardโs accident today, so I wanted to check with you."
Aurora smiled and said gently, โAs long as youโre aware of the situation, thatโs all that matters. Everything else isnโt important.โ
โThatโs good to hear,โ Eleanor replied, her tone softening before a faint sigh slipped out.
โHonestly, Leonardโs been through a lot. Heโs a pitiful child in many ways, so when Megan wanted to visit him, we didnโt stop her.โ
Auroraโs curiosity was instantly piqued. โWhat do you mean by that?โ
Now she was even more intrigued โ what exactly had happened? Everyoneโs attitude toward Leonard seemed to have shifted lately, and it didnโt quite match the reputation sheโd heard before.
Eleanor hesitated. If Aurora was asking, that meant Megan hadnโt told her anything. But revealing it herself might cross a line โ it could involve something deeply personal about Leonard.
After a momentโs pause, Eleanor finally decided against it.
โAurora, maybe itโs better if you find out for yourself later,โ she said sincerely. โItโs not something I can explain clearly in a few words. I hope you wonโt take it the wrong way โ just talk to Megan when you have the chance.โ
Hearing that, Aurora understood why Eleanor had chosen to keep quiet. There had to be a reason behind it all.
