“You really think so?” Aurora’s eyes lit up, her tone almost eager.

“Of course,” Lucas replied without hesitation. “But there’s one thing you should always remember–I’ll always be on your side. No matter what you do, I’ll support you. I’ll be your anchor, and whenever you look back, I’ll be right there waiting.”

“Alright. Let’s go home.”

Warmth spread through Aurora’s chest. Hearing his words brought her more comfort than she could express.

When they returned, she skipped breakfast and had Lucas drive her straight to the studio. She still needed to discuss some project details with Daniel that morning. There was no time to waste.

“If there’s anything I can help with, make sure to tell me,” Lucas said. Ever since revealing his true identity, he had been openly supporting her. He no longer wanted to hide who he was. Now that he could stand proudly beside her, why should he hold back? More than anything, he wanted Aurora to lean on him and let him share her burdens. He was done being the quiet man in the background. That self-sacrificing, invisible role had never suited him. What he wanted was for her to grow used to his presence and rely on it.

“There’s no need,” Aurora said seriously. “I can handle things on my own. Besides, I don’t want everyone finding out about us so easily.”

“Why not?” Lucas frowned, clearly displeased with her decision. They’d gone through so much to be together–why should they still have to hide? Why not just be open about everything? He wasn’t the type to live cautiously, always looking over his shoulder.

“We finally made it here,” he said, his voice tight with frustration. “Is it really that hard to tell people who we are?”

Aurora sighed. “I want to succeed through my own hard work, not by hiding behind you. It wouldn’t be good for my career if people thought I depended on you. I want to stand beside you as an equal, not as someone living in your shadow. I want others to look at us and say we’re a perfect match.”

There was a quiet, determined glow in her eyes as she spoke. And in that moment, Lucas finally understood exactly what she meant.

“Alright then, but if you ever need my help, promise me you’ll tell me.”

After a long pause, Lucas finally chose to take a step back. This was Aurora’s decision–he had no right to interfere.

Seeing the faint pout on his face, Aurora leaned over and brushed a gentle kiss against his cheek. Lucas froze, his dark eyes widening in disbelief as he instinctively touched the spot where she’d kissed him, looking adorably stunned. It was the first time Aurora had ever seen him like that, and she couldn’t help but laugh. Reaching out, she pinched his soft cheek playfully.

“How can you be this cute?”

Lucas frowned slightly. “Do you realize you’re the first person to ever describe me that way?”

“So, no one else has seen this side of you before?” Aurora teased, her eyes glinting with amusement.
