Chapter 1260

Everyone stared at the reporter, realizing he truly had no patience at all. In their line of work, patience was the most essential quality. Yet, after only a few exchanges, he was already snappingโ€“clear proof that something was off. Before Aurora could respond, a voice suddenly rang out from the crowd.

โ€œWell, if someone from my company really said that, then Iโ€™ll have to investigate it thoroughly.โ€

All eyes turned toward the source of the voice. There stood Daniel, accompanied by his secretary. The black-clad reporter grew even more irritable at being interrupted, already feeling guilty inside.

โ€œAnd who are you to butt in? Iโ€™m speaking hereโ€”what gives you the right to cut me off?โ€

Aurora arched a brow at his arrogance.

โ€œLet me remind youโ€”didnโ€™t you just claim that you got this information from Daniel Lewisโ€™ company?โ€

The reporter frowned, clearly not understanding her point. โ€œI already spelled it out for you. Didnโ€™t you get it? I said I got the news from his company. So, your project with him isnโ€™t really a big deal.โ€

โ€œOh, I see now.โ€

Aurora turned with a smile toward Daniel Lewis. โ€œMr. Lewis, you heard what this reporter just said, didnโ€™t you?โ€

โ€œMr. Lewis?โ€ The crowd gasped in surprise.

Aurora nodded calmly. โ€œThatโ€™s right. This is the very โ€˜Mr. Lewisโ€™ the reporter mentioned. And since heโ€™s here in person, if thereโ€™s anything more to be said, we can settle it face to face.โ€

Now the tables had turned, and everyone looked at the black-clad reporter with schadenfreude. Megan couldnโ€™t help spitting out, โ€œWhat a joke. I donโ€™t know which outlet sent you, but youโ€™ve been spewing nonsense. Now the man himself is standing right in front of you, and suddenly youโ€™ve gone silent?โ€

โ€œExactly. Reporters like you give the profession a bad name. Best thing would be to blacklist you. Which media company are you from, anyway?โ€ Ian frowned.

The black-clad reporter instantly became the target of everyoneโ€™s scorn. This time, he didnโ€™t dare utter a single word.

The black-clad reporter stammered for ages, unable to come up with a single word. Megan found it amusing. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? Tongue-tied all of a sudden? Donโ€™t tell me someone with an agenda sent you here?โ€

โ€œNo, absolutely not!โ€ The reporter tried to slip away, but soon realized the other journalists had closed ranks, blocking every exit.

Aurora held back a smile as she turned to Daniel. โ€œMr. Lewis, could I trouble you to take a look? Do you recognize this reporter?โ€

Daniel actually stepped forward, studying the manโ€™s face closely. At last, he shook his head.

โ€œMiss Walton, Iโ€™ve never seen someone so bundled up. Even if I were looking for a partner, I certainly wouldnโ€™t work with someone who wonโ€™t even show his real face. At the very least, Iโ€™d need to know who Iโ€™m dealing with.โ€ He turned back sharply. โ€œAnd as for that projectโ€”you really think Iโ€™d reveal anything?โ€

โ€œHow could I?โ€ Daniel exclaimed. โ€œIโ€™m still losing sleep over it myself. Thereโ€™s no way Iโ€™d go spreading details recklessly.โ€

โ€œThis is pure slander!โ€ He jabbed a finger toward the reporter. โ€œTell me the truth, who sent you here to smear me? Youโ€™d better start talking, or Iโ€™ll call the police.โ€
