Chapter 1260
Everyone stared at the reporter, realizing he truly had no patience at all. In their line of work, patience was the most essential quality. Yet, after only a few exchanges, he was already snappingโclear proof that something was off. Before Aurora could respond, a voice suddenly rang out from the crowd.
โWell, if someone from my company really said that, then Iโll have to investigate it thoroughly.โ
All eyes turned toward the source of the voice. There stood Daniel, accompanied by his secretary. The black-clad reporter grew even more irritable at being interrupted, already feeling guilty inside.
โAnd who are you to butt in? Iโm speaking hereโwhat gives you the right to cut me off?โ
Aurora arched a brow at his arrogance.
โLet me remind youโdidnโt you just claim that you got this information from Daniel Lewisโ company?โ
The reporter frowned, clearly not understanding her point. โI already spelled it out for you. Didnโt you get it? I said I got the news from his company. So, your project with him isnโt really a big deal.โ
โOh, I see now.โ
Aurora turned with a smile toward Daniel Lewis. โMr. Lewis, you heard what this reporter just said, didnโt you?โ
โMr. Lewis?โ The crowd gasped in surprise.
Aurora nodded calmly. โThatโs right. This is the very โMr. Lewisโ the reporter mentioned. And since heโs here in person, if thereโs anything more to be said, we can settle it face to face.โ
Now the tables had turned, and everyone looked at the black-clad reporter with schadenfreude. Megan couldnโt help spitting out, โWhat a joke. I donโt know which outlet sent you, but youโve been spewing nonsense. Now the man himself is standing right in front of you, and suddenly youโve gone silent?โ
โExactly. Reporters like you give the profession a bad name. Best thing would be to blacklist you. Which media company are you from, anyway?โ Ian frowned.
The black-clad reporter instantly became the target of everyoneโs scorn. This time, he didnโt dare utter a single word.
The black-clad reporter stammered for ages, unable to come up with a single word. Megan found it amusing. โWhatโs wrong? Tongue-tied all of a sudden? Donโt tell me someone with an agenda sent you here?โ
โNo, absolutely not!โ The reporter tried to slip away, but soon realized the other journalists had closed ranks, blocking every exit.
Aurora held back a smile as she turned to Daniel. โMr. Lewis, could I trouble you to take a look? Do you recognize this reporter?โ
Daniel actually stepped forward, studying the manโs face closely. At last, he shook his head.
โMiss Walton, Iโve never seen someone so bundled up. Even if I were looking for a partner, I certainly wouldnโt work with someone who wonโt even show his real face. At the very least, Iโd need to know who Iโm dealing with.โ He turned back sharply. โAnd as for that projectโyou really think Iโd reveal anything?โ
โHow could I?โ Daniel exclaimed. โIโm still losing sleep over it myself. Thereโs no way Iโd go spreading details recklessly.โ
โThis is pure slander!โ He jabbed a finger toward the reporter. โTell me the truth, who sent you here to smear me? Youโd better start talking, or Iโll call the police.โ
