Chapter 1210

The coffee arrived quickly. In no time, two cups were set down in front of them. At Auroraโ€™s words, Daniel didnโ€™t try to hide anything. Instead, he smiled and said, โ€œAs expected of you, Miss Waltonโ€“nothing slips past your eyes.โ€

Aurora gave a faint smile, simply stirring her coffee without replying. โ€œMiss Walton, youโ€™ve left Walton Corporation now, havenโ€™t you? Then what happens to the Southside land project we discussed earlier?โ€

Aurora froze at his words. Her expression turned blankโ€“clearly, she had forgotten all about it.

Seeing her look that way, Daniel gasped. โ€œDonโ€™t tell me you actually forgot?โ€

โ€œAhโ€“no, no,โ€ Aurora said quickly, trying to cover it up. โ€œItโ€™s just that things have been hectic lately, and I may have overlooked it a little.โ€

Her spoon moved faster in the cup, betraying her unease. How could she outright admit that she really had forgotten? Saying so would only embarrass him. Daniel seemed to realize as much, and his face shifted from awkwardness to understanding. After all, Walton Corporation had gone through a major upheavalโ€“it was no surprise. โ€œThen whatโ€™s your plan now, Miss Walton?โ€ he asked.

Truthfully, Daniel wasnโ€™t sure how to proceed. The project had originally been handed to Aurora by Desmond. But now that she was no longer at the company, he didnโ€™t know whether to keep working with her or with the corporation behind her. If it was the latter, he could simply sign with Walton Corporation directly. But without knowing Lucasโ€˜ true intentions, he didnโ€™t dare make that decision rashly.

Aurora felt a flicker of uncertainty. โ€œSo, Mr. Lewis, are you saying you want to work with me directly?โ€

โ€œYes. After all, you and I were the ones who discussed this project,โ€ Daniel said, clearly pleased that she finally caught his meaning.

โ€œFrom the start, I only agreed to work with Walton Corporation because I recognized your ability. But now that youโ€™re no longer with them, I canโ€™t just hand the project over to the company behind you.โ€

Aurora took a sip of her coffee to steady herself. โ€œYou flatter me, Mr. Lewis. I never realized I had such influence, that youโ€™d see me this way.โ€

Daniel didnโ€™t hesitate. โ€œMiss Walton, youโ€™re being far too modest. Your capabilities are well known in the industry. Everyoneโ€™s seen you secure project after project. Thatโ€™s your achievementโ€“and your reputation is the best proof you could have.โ€ He went on praising her. โ€œThere are plenty of companies waiting for the chance to work with you. So, saying otherwise is nothing but modesty.โ€

Still, Aurora felt something was off. Daniel was a heavyweight in the industry, with no shortage of projects under his control. For him to be this courteous to someone who had only been with Walton Corporation a short time? It didnโ€™t quite add up.

โ€œBut you can see my situation now,โ€ Aurora said, gesturing toward the townhouse beside them. โ€œMy studioโ€™s still under construction. Iโ€™m afraid I might disappoint your expectations. Would your project be able to wait?โ€
