When he moved closer, Aurora still hadnโt reacted, only kept retreating.
โYouโฆ I know youโre serious,โ she said, her cheeks flushing. โBut if weโre just talking, you donโt need to stand so close.โ
โWhatโs wrong, Rora?โ Lucas called her by her nickname again. โWeโre husband and wife. Why are you still so shy? Havenโt you gotten used to your role yet?โ
โNo, itโs not that.โ
Aurora took a deep breath, then reached out to press against his chest. โStop, stop, thatโs enough. Donโt come any closer.โ
โAnd then what?โ Lucas looked at her with a teasing smile.
Aurora lowered her head and muttered, โAlright, I promise. From now on, whatever it is, Iโll discuss it with you. No matter how big or small, Iโll tell you everything.โ
โGood girl.โ Lucas reached out and ruffled her soft hair, his eyes full of warmth.
With her promise, he finally felt at ease. He no longer had to worry she might keep things from him again. At least now he would be in the loop. He wouldnโt have to hear about Aurora from Desmond anymore. Lucas recalled what Desmond had saidโthat it was ridiculous for him to be the husband, yet still not know about his own wifeโs affairs, even though they shared the same bed.
โYou donโt know, Desmond even mocked me,โ Lucas said, abandoning his usual coolness to complain directly to her.
โWhat do you mean?โ Aurora didnโt understand.
Lucas looked at her seriously. โHe told me that even though weโre husband and wife, I still have to investigate some things on my own. Arenโt we supposed to be the most intimate? So what am I supposed to do? Now he even suspects there are problems in our marriage.โ
As he spoke, Lucas pulled her tightly into his arms, refusing to let go. โBut our relationship is clearly fine. Theyโre just slandering us, spreading nonsense. I have to prove them wrong.โ
By the end, Aurora fully understood what he meant. It was about her not telling him she was starting the studio. So, this was his roundabout way of asking her to tell him everything in the future, so he wouldnโt have to hear it from anyone else. Once Aurora understood Lucasโs intention, she didnโt know whether to laugh or cry. She hadnโt expected a manโs way of acting spoiled could be this disarming.
โAlright, alright, from now on Iโll never let you hear about me from someone else again.โ She reached up and pinched his cheek with a smile. โDonโt worry, whatever it is, Iโll tell you right away. I wonโt leave you uneasy or insecure anymore.โ
Lucas nodded earnestly, then quickly pressed a kiss to her cheek, his eyes glittering. โYou said it yourself.โ
โYes, I did.โ Aurora felt helpless, yet sweet at the same time. After all, this was the man she had chosen. So, no matter how spoiled Lucas acted, she couldnโt help but feel happy inside. Everything he did only showed how much he cared about her.
After washing up, the two of them lay in bed. Aurora nestled into his arms, finding a comfortable spot to rest against him.
