Jason understood Graceโs state of mind. He also knew that staying there wouldnโt be of much use. It was better to give her the time she needed to rest.
โAlright then, Madam Grace, you should rest. I wonโt disturb you anymore.โ
Grace nodded without saying much, leaning back in her chair, utterly exhausted.
Just before leaving, Jason remembered the issue with Lewis. He hadnโt wanted to trouble her, but the matter was urgent. If it wasnโt resolved, it would impact the companyโs projects, especially the development on the southern land.
โMadam Grace, back to the original matter,โ Jason said after much hesitation. โI know I shouldnโt trouble you right now, but I need to mention it.โ
โYou mean the southern land deal?โ Grace opened her eyes weakly, glancing at him.
Jason nodded. โThat project was always handled by Miss Aurora. Now, on Danielโs side, he wonโt acknowledge anyone else. He only trusts her. Without her, we canโt move forward, and the project will stall.โ
โCanโt someone else take over?โ Graceโs voice carried her weariness. When Aurora left, why hadnโt there been a proper handover? Why did she leave in such haste?
โIt really wonโt work, Madam Grace,โ Jason sighed, equally drained. โIโve made it clearโthe other side only recognizes Miss Aurora. Without her, we have no way forward. The work canโt continue.โ
โAlright, I understand. Leave it for now.โ Grace waved her hand, dismissing him.
Jason bowed his head slightly. Seeing her like this pained him, but he had to make sure she understood the situation. If they delayed any longer, it would only worsen things. It would harm the companyโs interests, and with the stock already slipping, if Walton Corporation failed to secure that project, losses would be inevitable.
Not long after Jason left, the door to Graceโs office was knocked on again. She already felt exhausted, but she still forced herself to respond, โCome in.โ Grace kept her eyes closed, not even looking to see who it wasโshe simply had no energy to care.
The next second, a pair of soft hands pressed gently against her temples. The throbbing pain there eased almost instantly. She relaxed into the touch for a moment before finally opening her eyes to see who it was.
โTessa, what brings you here?โ Grace asked softly.
โOf course I came to see you, Mom.โ As Tessa spoke, her hands kept moving, massaging carefully. โMom, I heard everything you just said to Jason while I was outside.โ
At that, Graceโs expression froze.
โThen, Tessa, what do you think?โ Grace followed her daughterโs lead.
Tessa stopped her hands, circled around the desk, and stood before her mother, looking at her intently.
โMom, since I heard all of it, of course I want to help ease your burdens. I donโt want to be the little girl hiding behind you anymore, leaving everything for you to shoulder alone. Watching you work yourself so hardโit hurts me deeply.โ
