Chapter 1168

Leon: โ€œ?โ€

He stared at Megan in disbelief.

Faced with such a clueless Megan, he didnโ€™t even know whether to comfort her or scold her.

Honestly, if heโ€™d been in that guyโ€™s place, he wouldnโ€™t have been kind to her either.

How could she say something like that with such confidence?

Leon was starting to wonder what on earth went on in Meganโ€™s head.

Dragging another manโ€™s wife out to a nightclubโ€“never mind that she was her cousinโ€™s wifeโ€“even if it were just a friendโ€™s wife, it was completely out of line.

โ€œSo what are you planning to do now?โ€ Leon asked at last.

Even as the words left his mouth, he couldnโ€™t believe he was asking such a ridiculous question.

Megan just shrugged, arms wide. โ€œWhat can I do? Iโ€™ll just leave it to fate.โ€

Leon looked at her in disbelief. He hadnโ€™t expected her to take it so lightly.

Sometimes, he almost envied herโ€“no matter what happened, she managed to keep this strange kind of optimism.

โ€œYouโ€™ve been drinking. Why donโ€™t I take you home?โ€ Leon offered gently.

But Megan gave him a long once-over. โ€œWhat, you mean you havenโ€™t been drinking too?โ€

The question left Leon momentarily speechless.

So, she wasnโ€™t nearly as drunk as he thoughtโ€“she knew exactly what she was saying.

โ€œStill, I canโ€™t let you go home alone. I wouldnโ€™t feel right about it.โ€

Whatever happened, Leon was determined to see her back safely tonight.

The last time, he hadnโ€™t managed to learn where she lived. This time, he wasnโ€™t about to miss the chance.

But Megan waved him off. โ€œNo need. I know the way back myself. Besides, I didnโ€™t drink that much tonightโ€“Iโ€™m perfectly clear-headed.โ€

Leon frowned, about to say more, but Megan pressed a finger to her lips. โ€œShh. Quiet. If you keep talking, youโ€™ll just start to annoy me.โ€

Hearing that, Leon could only fall silent, reluctantly giving in to her wishes.

Under his gaze, Megan walked to the barโ€™s entrance, flagged down a cab, and left.

Since sheโ€™d been drinking, she left her car behindโ€“she could always have someone pick it up tomorrow.

Leon stood helplessly, watching her go, wondering when he would ever win over this oblivious woman.

One of his buddies slung an arm around his shoulder, teasing, โ€œCome on, man, this isnโ€™t like you. After all this time, you still havenโ€™t made a move on her?โ€

He knew Leon liked Megan.

But seeing him keep his feelings buried for so longโ€“it was surprising, even for a close friend.

โ€œYou donโ€™t get it,โ€ Leon muttered, brushing his friendโ€™s arm off.

His buddy blinked at him, then chuckled. โ€œFine, I donโ€™t get it. But youโ€™re the one wasting time. If you donโ€™t make a move soon, she might slip awayโ€“and then youโ€™ll be the one crying.โ€

Leon said nothing, but the words echoed in his mind.

There was truth in them.

Still, with someone as clueless as Megan, what could he do? He couldnโ€™t force her.

Theyโ€™d known each other this long, and he didnโ€™t even know where she lived. Who would believe that?

His buddy sighed. โ€œIf you werenโ€™t my brother, I wouldnโ€™t even bother reminding you. When it comes to women, youโ€™ve got to be more direct. At the very least, let her know how you feel.โ€
