Chapter 938

Rachel turned around and asked Jerry, โ€œWant to join us?โ€

โ€œNo, thank you,โ€ Jerry said with a wave of his hands. โ€œMr. Hunt has something else arranged for me. I need to head back.โ€

โ€œAlright, stay safe on the road.โ€

Cecilia grabbed Rachelโ€™s arm. โ€œLetโ€™s go shopping!โ€

Rachel lifted a hand and tucked a loose lock of hair behind Ceciliaโ€™s ear. โ€œHow do you feel now? Is your health in a better state recently?โ€

โ€œI feel much better, at least compared to how it was before. Itโ€™s all thanks to Dr. Elias, whom you managed to find. Even my attending doctor told me it was a pity he didnโ€™t remain as a doctor.โ€

โ€œIndeed. Heโ€™s a talent in his field, and itโ€™s a pity heโ€™s not working as a doctor anymore. Iโ€™ve read about his amazing stories, and heโ€™s truly one of a kind. I hope heโ€™ll return to the medical profession after your case.โ€

The two of them headed straight for the baby store on the second floor.

Rachel had never been interested in baby apparel and necessities. To be honest, she didnโ€™t think she really adored children.

However, ever since she became pregnant, she developed a sudden interest in these things.

When she saw a pink stroller, she hurriedly dragged Cecilia over to take a closer look.

โ€œCecilia, look! This looks good. The blue one looks good, too!โ€

Cecilia leaned over and nodded with a smile. โ€œIt does look very good. You looking through all these things is a completely different sight from how you used to hide far away when our colleagues appeared with their children."

โ€œI finally know how it feels now that Iโ€™m pregnant,โ€ Rachel said as she caressed her lower abdomen with a smile on her face. โ€œAll I want is the best for my baby. Oh yes, do you want to pick some clothes for your two children? Weโ€™re in between seasons now.โ€

As Rachel spoke, she turned around to grab a pair of infant socks and accidentally elbowed someone behind her.

โ€œOh, no!โ€

A piercing shriek rang in the air as a pregnant lady wearing a beige dress stumbled back. A shopping bag fell from her arms, and a formula milk can rolled out.

โ€œAre you blind?!โ€

The womanโ€™s face was dark with displeasure. She held her stomach and yelled at a volume that attracted the attention of everyone in the store.

โ€œIโ€™m pregnant, you know? Can you bear the consequences if something happens to me?โ€

Rachel immediately bent over to pick up the tin can and said apologetically, โ€œIโ€™m sorry, I didnโ€™t realize you were behind me. Are you fine? Do you need to sit down for a while?โ€

โ€œFine?โ€

The woman pushed Rachelโ€™s hand away, and the tin can crashed on the floor once more.

โ€œThis child is a precious grandchild of my family, and you think you can get away with it just by saying sorry? This formula milk powder was imported from overseas, and each can costs a few hundred dollars. Compensate me for it! My dress was customโ€“made overseas, and you sullied it. It costs me a hundred thousand dollars, you know that?โ€

Ceciliaโ€™s brows furrowed, and she stood protectively in front of Rachel. โ€œMadam, donโ€™t go too far. My friend didnโ€™t do it on purpose, and your dress didnโ€™t get dirty. Must you be so demanding?โ€

โ€œWho are you? Are you able to help her compensate me or something?โ€

The woman looked disdainfully at Cecilia.

โ€œYou two are so shabbily dressed, and youโ€™re still here shopping for things despite being unable to afford them. Or are you scammers trying to take advantage of shoppers here? Iโ€™m telling you, my husband manages this entire mall. Donโ€™t even think about leaving until you pay up!โ€

The salespeople around them tried to step in to mediate, but they stopped in their tracks when the woman glared at them. She was clearly used to being a tyrant. No one dared to provoke her.

Rachel stood up straight, the apologetic look on her face fading in an instant.

โ€œI can compensate you for the milk powder, but I canโ€™t accept your request for me to compensate for your dress to the tune of a hundred thousand dollars. If you donโ€™t think thatโ€™s reasonable, we can call the police to mediate,โ€ she said coldly.

โ€œCall the police? Do you have a problem in your head?โ€

The woman took a step forward and reached out to shove Rachel.

โ€œBelieve it or not, I can have the security guards here chase you out. Youโ€™ll never be allowed to step into this mall in the future!โ€

Cecilia hurriedly held Rachel steady, for fear that she might lose her balance and fall.

โ€œDonโ€™t go overboard! My friend is pregnant, too. If she gets hurt, you wonโ€™t be able to bear the consequences either!โ€

โ€œWhat does her getting hurt have to do with me?โ€ The woman sneered.

She was about to say more when steady footsteps sounded from the store entrance.

The moment Tyler walked in, he saw the lady shoving Rachel. His eyes turned cold as he grabbed Rachelโ€™s wrist and pulled her behind him.
