Chapter 864

"I'll be fine. Just do as I say," Rachel said.

Jerry had never disobeyed Rachel's command, and it was the same this time around. Before leaving with Elias, he requested of Tyler, "Mr. Hunt, please take good care of Rachel."

"Don't worry." Tyler grabbed Rachel's hand and brought Yale to another car.

A sombre mood enveloped the Zieglers' residence, candles surrounding Steven's photo. Rachel changed into a black dress, and Tyler put on a black suit. Both of them stood at the door of the funeral hall with a bouquet of white chrysanthemums in hand.

Someone inside spotted Rachel and Tyler and pointed at them angrily.

"The nerve of you two to come!"

The man was Miguel Ziegler, Steven's nephew. His eyes were bloodshot, and his voice was dripping with fury. "Mr. Ziegler was angered to death by you two! If you two hadn't sent Howard to jail, he wouldn't have gotten a stroke and died!"

All the relatives in the Ziegler family surrounded him, pointing and hurling insults at them.

"The nerve of the murderer and his accomplice to come and pay their respects! Scram! We don't welcome you one bit. You're the ones who caused Mr. Ziegler's death. How dare you come here, putting on an act?"

Rachel calmly placed the bouquet on a table and bowed deeply at Steven's portrait. She straightened her back and addressed them calmly.

"We understand your sorrow, but please don't be indiscriminate in your judgment. Howard abducted and deliberately tried to hurt us twice. The first time he did so, his father pulled many strings to prevent him from being jailed. He even bribed a fellow victim, Sheryn Lyons, to change her testimony.

"We didn't count all these against him, or he wouldn't have had the chance to follow us all the way overseas and kidnap us a second time."

Tyler stepped forward, his dark gaze sweeping across everyone who was looking agitatedly at them.

He said with authority, "I have the police report with me. You can check through it if you have any doubts. Howard was charged with kidnapping, deliberately inflicting injury on others, and instigating false testimony. There is solid proof to convict him for multiple charges, and that's not something we can plot by our own efforts."

Chapter 884

Someone scoffed. "Weren't you the ones who set Howard up? He's always been an honest boy. How could he possibly do something like this?"

Rachel almost burst out laughing. Was talking nonsense something that ran in the blood of the Zieglers? Howard, an honest boy?

Rachel showed them screenshots of the surveillance footage of them being abducted, as well as their medical reports.

"Take a look at these! The last time he kidnapped me, he threatened me at knifepoint. This time, while we were overseas, he beat us up with baseball bats and metal rods, and even tried to violate me. We have videos and witnesses for these claims. Is Howard still a six-year-old who would be easily instigated by others to do things like these?"

The photos and evidence before them made all the indignant relatives fall silent. Miguel's face twisted with anger at the sight of the evidence, his face flushing with fury.

"We never wanted to do anything to Howard, but he repeatedly provoked us time and time again. If it were you, would you allow someone to keep threatening your life?

"I'm afraid all of you would do the same as I did. Howard ended up like this because all of you condoned his behavior. Your covering up for him was what caused Mr. Ziegler's death. Weren't all of you the ones who condoned his evil deeds again and again?"
