Chapter 815

Williamโ€™s face went dark with displeasure.

If he didnโ€™t stand up to defend Samantha in front of so many people, everyone would probably start talking badly about them behind their backs.

Frowning, he said to Rachel, โ€œRachel, arenโ€™t you going too far by slapping her in front of so many people?โ€

Rachel looked innocently at William.

โ€œHow could you say that? She literally asked for it herself. You heard it for yourselfโ€“she felt guilty, thinking that she was in the wrong for breaking us apart back then. She herself said that as long as I forgive her, she could accept me hitting her. Why are you turning this around and blaming me instead?โ€

Rachel couldnโ€™t hold back her laughter, as though she heard something hilarious.

Samantha tugged Williamโ€™s arm with tears in her eyes, a pitiful sight to behold. She pursed her lips and shook her head indignantly.

โ€œWilliam, donโ€™t blame Rachel. I did say that just now. Itโ€™s fine, Rachel. Donโ€™t blame yourself for it. Iโ€™m willing to take that. I know youโ€™ve always been quick-tempered, so itโ€™s fine. As long as it appeases your anger and you donโ€™t keep pestering William, I donโ€™t mind getting slapped a few more times.โ€

Rachel looked at Samantha, unable to hide her surprise. โ€œWhen did I pester William? Did I slap you silly? Did you lose your ability to think straight?โ€

The mere sight of William gave Rachel the urge to kick him aside. No way would she have any desire to have anything more to do with him!

Samantha immediately shut her mouth, but she made it look as though she was forced into silence.

โ€œAlright. I wonโ€™t say any further, Rachel. Whatever you say is right, but I believe everyone here can tell whatโ€™s right from wrong.โ€

Everyone around them started mumbling under their breath.

โ€œThese two families are really interesting. Theyโ€™re already divorced, so why are they still in contact with each other?โ€

โ€œThe Lewises really shouldnโ€™t have come today. Whatโ€™s the point?โ€

โ€œRachel wasnโ€™t right to slap her. Itโ€™s her fatherโ€™s funeral. How could she slap someone here?โ€

โ€œItโ€™ll cause a misunderstanding and make others think she still cares for William. Why else would she slap that woman?โ€

โ€œWilliamโ€™s wife looks so weak and vulnerable. Sheโ€™s no match for Rachel.โ€

โ€œExactly. No wonder William divorced her back then. Who wouldnโ€™t? I would, if I were him.โ€

Samantha felt smug when she heard others talk badly about Rachel. If that slap caused Rachel to be the target of public furore, she hadnโ€™t taken it in vain.

She felt victory within her grasp as more people started blaming Rachel for slapping another indiscriminately, like a shrew.

And so, she seized the chance to add fuel to the fire.

She grabbed Rachelโ€™s arm and almost knelt to the ground.

โ€œRachel, donโ€™t be angry. Youโ€™ve slapped me already, so please stop this. Iโ€™ve already apologized to you, but you can slap me again if youโ€™re still mad.โ€

Rachel rolled up her sleeves. โ€œYou said so yourself.โ€

She raised a hand, poised to slap Samantha once more.

Samantha shut her eyes in fright, not expecting Rachel to really slap her one more time.
