Chapter 778

โ€œItโ€™s all over. What you feared most didnโ€™t happen, right? Donโ€™t overthink. Letโ€™s pack our things and head to the airport. I donโ€™t want to stay in this horrible place a minute longer.โ€

Rachel thought about how nothing good had happened the moment they set foot on this land. Perhaps there was something cursed about this place.

Tyler didnโ€™t dwell further on this issue and packed his luggage before heading to the airport with her.

On their way there, Tyler received a call. He hesitated for a moment before answering it.

Rachel glanced at his screenโ€”Wilma, Sherynโ€™s mother, was calling. She could sense a bad storm coming their way.

Things were different this time. Tyler had sent Sheryn directly to the police.

If Sheryn were found guilty of being the mastermind of the entire fiasco, she might face jail time or be detained.

That would be a huge blow to Wilma.

The moment the call went through, Tyler heard Wilma shrieking over the phone.

โ€œTyler Hunt, what are you doing? Will you only rest when weโ€™re all dead? Sheโ€™s all I have left in this world, and you canโ€™t even spare her! Are you bent on taking her away from me?โ€

Tyler made no move to refute Wilmaโ€™s claims and simply said coldly, โ€œDo you know what your daughter did? I trust the police have explained things very clearly to you. You should ask Sheryn for the details.โ€

Wilma was deep in rage and didnโ€™t pay attention to what Tyler said. She refused to reflect on her and her daughterโ€™s mistakes.

Instead, she chose to push all the blame to Rachel.

โ€œDonโ€™t think I donโ€™t know whatโ€™s going on in your mind! My daughterโ€™s getting in your way, and you want to do all you can to get rid of her, right? Sheโ€™s still young, and it might not even have been her intention to do these things! That Anne Charlton must have instigated her to do all that!โ€

Rachel had the urge to laugh at Wilmaโ€™s preposterous claim.

Wilma probably had a part to play in Sheryn turning out the way she did. If Wilma couldnโ€™t see her own fault, Sheryn naturally couldnโ€™t as well.

Tyler, all out of patience to deal with Wilma, said blatantly, โ€œIf youโ€™re calling just to argue with me about this, I donโ€™t have time for it. Iโ€™ll leave it to the police to handle the matter.โ€

He made a move to hang up, but Wilma pleaded, โ€œIโ€™m sorry, Tyler. It was my fault for being so harsh just now. I was too rude to you. Please, Iโ€™m begging you. Take my life in exchange for hers. I can take her place in jail. Find a way to free her, wonโ€™t you?โ€

Tyler rejected her without any hesitation.

โ€œThat depends on how the police handle the case. I have no way of interfering. If you want Sheryn freed as soon as possible, make her come clean. Thatโ€™s the best thing she can do right now.โ€

Wilma finally realized where Tyler was going with this.

โ€œSo you mean youโ€™re washing your hands off this?! Fine! Youโ€™re abandoning your family for the sake of a woman. In that case, let me tell you this. If you donโ€™t let Sheryn out in three days, Iโ€™ll jump off your office building! Iโ€™ll see how you continue your operations. Just wait to be bankrupt! I really regret helping you back then. Had I known this would happen, I should have let you die!โ€
