Chapter 745
Tyler and Rachel ran outside, but Anne was already gone.
Rachel immediately took action. โHereโs the plan. You go that way, Iโll go this way. Weโll split up. If either of us finds her, weโll inform each other right away.โ
Rachel was about to dash off to the right when Tyler yanked her back. โNo! You canโt go looking for her alone. What if something happens? Itโs already dark.โ
โThen what do we do? Even if you call the police now, they wonโt file a report. A missing person has to be gone for 24 hours.โ They couldnโt just stand there and watch Anne be missing for a whole day before doing anything.
Tyler turned to Yale. โYou head that way alone. Iโll go this way with her. Youโre a guy. Youโre not going to just vanish, right?โ Yale nodded. โYeah.โ
He had known all along that once Tyler fell in love, heโd be the type to care for no one else. It wasnโt in the arrogant sense, but in that the only person in his eyes would be the one he cared for. At moments like this, nothing and no one else seemed to matter as much.
Tyler grabbed Rachelโs hand. โLetโs go.โ
At first, Tyler had tried calling Anne, but she had already blocked his number. Rachel tried from her own phone and got the same result.
Rachel grew annoyed. โYou really are something! You know what Anneโs like. She likes you so much that every word you say, sheโll take to heart.โ
Tyler had no excuse. He admitted his mistake outright. โIโll apologize to her about this.โ
Seeing how serious he was, Rachel didnโt press him any further.
Tyler suddenly leaned in close. The abruptness startled Rachel. She glanced around quickly to see if Anne was anywhere nearby. She then asked, โWhat are you doing?โ
โRachel, you gave yourself away.โ Tylerโs voice carried a hint of laughter.
Rachel froze, not immediately processing what he meant. โWhat?โ
The smile on Tylerโs face widened. โHow did you know what I said to Anne at the bar? And how did you know she took it seriously?โ
Rachelโs eyes widened. She suddenly realized that Tyler had never known she had been at the bar. At most, she had told him that she had gone out. He hadnโt even asked yet, but she had basically confessed on her own. Now, she couldnโt even look him in the eye. She wished the ground would just swallow her up. If there had been a brick nearby, she honestly wouldโve whacked herself unconscious with it just to escape the embarrassment.
Turning her face away, Rachel forced a casual tone. โI heard it from Yale. I think he was there that night.โ
Tyler suddenly wrapped his arm around her waist and brushed his lips lightly against hers. His dark eyes held a teasing glimmer. โYouโre getting bolder with that mouth of yours.โ
Rachel saw the look in his eyes. He had already seen right through her. He was certain sheโd been at that bar. Instead of letting him tease her about it later, it would be better to just rip the band-aid off now. After taking a deep breath, she faced him directly.
โYouโre right. I did go to the bar, and I heard what you said to Anne. It was a public place, and anyone couldโve been there.โ
Tyler chuckled when he saw her flushed cheeks. โYouโre right. It was a public place, and anyone could go. But doesnโt it seem like your bank balance has gotten a lot smaller lately?โ
