Chapter 1062
Jonathan turned around and carefully laid the baby back in the crib. โHeโs fallen asleep again. I just changed his diaper.โ
โOh.โ Teresa licked her lips, and then asked, โSo, when are you heading out?โ
โHead out? Didnโt I tell Michael Iโm not leaving?โ
โNo, thatโs not what I meant,โ Teresa said quickly. โI mean, when are you going back to your place? Or are you just going to stay here?โ
Jonathan paused for a couple of seconds. โIs it okay if I sleep in the same room as the kids tonight? I want to take care of both of them. I just got back, and I want to be with them.โ
Before Teresa could say anything, a little whirlwind rushed past her. Michael had already grabbed his pillow and blanket and dashed over. โYay! I can sleep with Mr. Lime tonight.โ
Teresa sighed and nodded. โAlright, Iโll go get you some bedding.โ She understood why Michael wanted to sleep with his dad tonight. And she understood Jonathan, tooโheโd just come back and couldnโt bear to be apart from the boys.
That meant sheโd have the room alone. Jonathan would be sharing the room with Michael and Felix.
After Jonathan took a quick shower, he found Michael already snuggled up next to Felix, fast asleep. The two little ones were lying cheek to cheekโone looked just like their dad, the other just like their mom.
It was such a heartwarming sight that Teresa couldnโt help but linger and watch a little longer. She walked to the door, about to turn off the light for Jonathan. โYou should get some rest.โ
โWhy did you hug me?โ Jonathan suddenly asked, leaning back against the headboard. In the faint glow, his eyes seemed to capture her completely.
Teresaโs cheeks instantly turned red, and she got flustered. โYou should take Mike to kindergarten tomorrow. His class starts at 7:30.โ With that, she closed the door.
She chose to run away from it again. It wasnโt that she didnโt want to answerโshe just couldnโt, or rather, she didnโt even know how to respond. She needed to think about how to put it into words.
Jonathan was back, but she felt she was dreamingโher mind was a mess, and her heart was pounding so fast that it felt like it was about to leap right out of her chest.
In her room, Teresa lay in bed, tossing and turning, but no matter what, she just couldnโt fall asleep. It was one of those nights where sleep just wouldnโt come.
After lying awake for hours, she gave up and decided to step outside for some air. She had just opened her door when, right then, the door across from hers swung open too. She was surprised to see Jonathan was still awake.
โBoth kids are sleeping soundly,โ Jonathan said. โI havenโt gotten over jet lag yet, so I couldnโt sleep. Just needed some air.โ
Teresa said, โMe too. I just came out to get some waterโthe room feels a bit dry.โ
She walked into the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water. Jonathan trailed after her, leaning casually on the dining table as he watched her back. โGot any wine? How about keeping me company for a drink?โ
Teresa hesitated for a couple of seconds, and then nodded. โAlright.โ She brought over a bottle of red wine, but only took out a single glass. โYou go ahead. Iโll pass.โ
โIf both of us end up drunk, maybe something bad will happen,โ Teresa thought to herself. She didnโt want to get drunk again tonight.
Jonathan poured himself a glass of wine. โI wasnโt planning on letting you drink. Just having you here with me is enough.โ
Teresaโs heart skipped a beat, but she quickly steered the conversation away. โWhat about your mom? Hasnโt she come back?โ
Jonathan said, โSheโs not coming back unless I say so.โ
โWhat do you mean?โ
